Mango Project :

Name of the Project: Strengthening Mango Supply Chain through Contract Farming with 500 Farmers at Sathkira. Objectives of the project:

• To develop the capacity of 500 farmers for safe mango production through knowledge sharing, skill development through information dissemination, and hands-on technical orientation and training followed by good orchard management practices.

• To ensure farmers’ access to quality inputs, markets, and services.

•       To enhance safe mango production and increase income

• To ensure engagement of both women and youth besides the male farmers. Project Activities:

•       Finalization of contract farming area and selection of mango farmers

•       Formation of contract farmer’s group

 

•       Develop farmer’s profile as per BHA’s prescribed format

• Long-term staff orientation on grant objectives and activities

•       Farmers’ orientation on improving mango post-harvest management, grading shorting, and packaging

•       Farmers’ orientation on improving mango orchard management and cultivation practice

•       Farmers Group Meeting

•       Conduct a Safe mango promotional campaign in Satkhira

• Coordination meetings with local and regional buyers, exporters, and input companies for safe mango sales point establishments (seasonal) for rent.

•       Facilitate access to fertilizer, compost, bio-rational products, and other inputs.

•       Purchase of mango from contract farmers

•       Sales of mango to local and domestic markets Project Measurable:

• Total number of mango farmer’s groups: 20

•       Total number of  mango farmer’s members: 504

•       Mango Purchase Target: 721 Metric Tons

•       Mango Sale Target: 685 Metric TonsNo. of Project Staffs: 5
