Micro credit program for poverty alleviation :
Bangladesh is a developing country. Most of the people here are dependent on agriculture and agricultural labor. Hence, the majority of them live below the poverty line. The number of poor and landless people is very high here. Therefore, they cannot invest capital in business activities. Banks or other financial institutions do not want to give loans without a mortgage. In this case, they fall under the moneylender interest rate and become destitute. Crescent Organization has received the certificate from the Micro Credit Regulatory Authority (MRA) and is providing loans on easy terms for their business and micro-enterprise investments. That is why women, especially, are getting opportunities to develop through small businesses and enterprises. At present, Crescent Organization is conducting small investment activities through five branch offices in four upazilas. The total number of members of the organization is 5488 at present.
